Psychoactive drugs an 'increasing concern'

New synthetic psychoactive drugs are being sold illegally in Australia in growing numbers.

Victoria Police chief commissioner Graham Ashton said the new drugs had emerged rapidly and were an increasing concern for police.

"Synthetic drugs are often marketed as safe or legal alternatives to illicit drugs yet they are not legal and present severe risks to the user and the community," Mr Ashton said on Thursday.
