A Melbourne psychologist accused of stealing from her dying partner has briefly appeared in court.

Kris Schroder, 57, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with stealing $250,000, hiding her partner's will and trying to make herself the sole beneficiary of a $2.4 million estate.

The forensic psychologist faces 147 charges, including theft.

She was not required to speak during Tuesday's hearing.

Schroder had her bail extended and was given permission by the court to visit family interstate in January.

She is due back in court on February 4.
