Portable long service bid for Vic cleaners

Contract cleaners and security guards could one day get portable long service leave after a Victorian report recommended a feasibility study.

A parliamentary committee found workers in the cleaning and security industries often missed out on long service entitlements because contracts change hands.

"When this occurs, their long service leave accruals are lost and they have to start again from scratch," committee chair Nazih Elasmar said on Wednesday.
