Police uncover alleged drug trafficking ring in Victorian town, 11 arrested

Police have uncovered an alleged drug trafficking ring in a regional town in Victoria, where 11 people were arrested and $600,000 in drugs and cash were confiscated.

Authorities this week stormed more than a dozen residences and storage sheds in Shepparton as part of an eight-month investigation into the alleged ring's supply of drugs from Melbourne.

Officers allegedly found and seized large quantities of drugs including $150,000 worth of meth, $100,000 worth of ecstasy, $132,000 worth of cocaine and $150,000 in cash.

Among the alleged items were GHB, steroids, a pistol and ammunition and three stolen motorbikes.

Police made 11 arrests, including eight men from Shepparton aged between 19 and 56, who were charged with drug traffick offences.

Detective senior sergeant Paul Shortis said drug traffickers and manufacturers had "no place to hide".

"We know that drug use often serves as a springboard to other serious crimes, which can have devastating consequences for our community," he said.

"This is why we will stop at nothing in our pursuit of anyone trying to make a profit from criminal activity."
