Police will examine CCTV footage from 45 cameras near a Melbourne park where a body was found last last week.

They will also conduct DNA testing on eight sets of clothing seized from the man charged over the death, 21-year-old Robert Marshall of Keysborough.

Marshall appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday on one count of murder in the death of Christian Williams.

Williams' body was discovered in Dandenong Park by an off-duty Protective Services Officer who was walking his dog around 4.30am on November 18.

Police prosecutors asked magistrate Duncan Reynolds for a committal mention date in March to give them time to examine the evidence, which includes 630 hours of CCTV footage.

Marshall was remanded into custody.

He will next appear in court on March 13 next year.
