Paralympian's OAM medal stolen in burglary

Gold-medal-winning Paralympic swimmer Sam Bramham's Order of Australia medal has been stolen from his parents' Melbourne home.

$100,000 worth of belongings and sentimental pieces were stolen from the Ivanhoe home on Saturday, Bramham said on Facebook.

"My Order of Australia medal (which is what I was awarded for representing our country) was stolen too.

"Most of the items are replaceable. The Order of Australia medal is not. Anyone stupid enough to break into a house is stupid enough to try and pawn it," he said.

He is calling on the public to look out for the distinctive medal in case someone tries to sell it.

Bramham has competed in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Paralympics and won two gold, two silver and a bronze medal.
