A duo who shot a Victorian policeman in the head after shooting and firebombing homes linked to murdered gangland figure Carl Williams have lost bids for lower jail terms.

Rodney Phillips and Sam Liszczak were each jailed for a minimum six years over a 2015 escapade where they shot and firebombed properties thought to belong to Carl Williams' father George Williams, and his widow Roberta Williams. It ended with them shooting at a police vehicle.

The Victorian Court of Appeal on Tuesday rejected claims their sentences were excessive, particularly given the "seriousness of their offending" and "appalling criminal histories".
