Overseas driver caught 190km/h on Vic road

An Indian man caught belting down a Victorian country freeway at 190km/h in a rental car with four drunk passengers told police he had music on and was enjoying the drive.

The man, who does not hold an Australian driver's licence, was stopped in a 110km/h zone on the Princes Freeway in Drouin on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old, who lives in Sydney, had never driven in Victoria and was listening to music and enjoying the drive when he was stopped, police say.

Police discovered the vehicle was a rental and after contacting the company, were advised to seize the keys, while the man will be charged by summons with traffic offences.
