Online dating probed in Vic mum's death

A Melbourne mother could have been killed by someone she met on a dating website, police say.

Traci O'Sullivan was found dead by her ex-partner and their five-year-old son at her home in Frankston North on February 7.

New CCTV footage shows the 41-year-old woman at a local supermarket on February 5, the last day she was seen by her family.

Some time between leaving her mother's house that afternoon and being found dead two days later, she was violently attacked and suffered multiple injuries.

Detective Senior Sergeant Stuart Bailey says Ms O'Sullivan most likely knew her attacker.

She was known to be security conscious and there were no signs of forced entry at her home, leading police to believe she willingly let her killer into her home.

While police do not have a motive for her death, her use of online dating websites was being investigated.

"It could have been someone she met on a dating website, perhaps has come to meet her on that particular day," he said.

The attacker may have been injured during a struggle with Ms O'Sullivan.

"Given the nature of Traci's injuries we believe that the person responsible may have suffered cuts to their palms or hands, which may have required medical attention," he said.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen or been in contact with Ms O'Sullivan in the days before her death.

"Traci has a young son, loving parents and two sisters who are desperately seeking answers to this family tragedy," Det Snr Sgt Bailey said.
