New commercial shows man drug driving with grandmother in car

The Victorian government has released a new ad designed to remind drug users how long substances can stay in their system.

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) ad shows a man enjoying a meal with his family, but refusing a glass of wine.

“No, no, no. I’m going to drive Gran,” he explains.

He is then seen in the car, driving his grandmother home.

Unexpectedly, he is pulled over by police for drug testing, and is forced to get out of the vehicle after testing positive.

He leaves behind the elderly woman, who is visibly shocked.

The slogan follows: “More drug tests. More places. More often”.

In the last five years, approximately 41 percent of drivers and motorcyclists killed, who were tested, had drugs in their system, according to TAC.

Cannabis and stimulus were the most common substances.
