Motorcyclist rams police bike in Vic chase

A fleeing motorcyclist has rammed a police motorbike before losing control of his vehicle in a pursuit in Melbourne's north, officers say.

The 30-year-old on a Suzuki motorbike collided with the officer's bike as police tried to pull him over in Coburg on Friday afternoon.

He lost control of the motorcycle, came off and tried to run away but police chased him down, arresting him on Bell Street.

The Donvale man was charged with evading police, assaulting police, driving under the influence of drugs and other property and traffic offences.

He was remanded in custody to face the Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court on June 15.
