SUMMARY OF THE AKON GUODE CHILD-MURDER CASE SO FAR
WHO IS AKON GUODE?
* Came to Australia from war-torn Sudan in 2006 with her three oldest children.
HOW HER CHILDREN DIED
* On April 8, 2015, the mother-of-seven drove her 4WD into a Melbourne lake, with four of her children inside.
CHARGES
* Two counts of murder, one count each of infanticide and attempted murder.
* Guode killed her one-year-old son, Bol, and four-year-old twins Hanger and Madit. Her six-year-old daughter Alual was taken to hospital and survived.
ARREST
* Guode questioned by police after the crash and released without charge.
* Tells family members she felt dizzy before the crash.
* Guode is interviewed again in August, charged and taken into custody.
COURT
* Guode entered a plea of not guilty last August to the charges and was committed for trial, to take place in late January.
* She avoided trial with guilty pleas in January, to the infanticide of Bol, the murders of Hanger and Madit, and attempted murder of Alual.
SENTENCING SUBMISSIONS
* Plea hearing begins in the Victorian Supreme Court on Wednesday.
* Prosecution and defence present information they want the judge to take into account when deciding on the sentence.
