More charges expected over Vic bus crash

A taxi driver charged with causing a major crash with a mini bus that killed three elderly passengers is expected to face further charges.

The taxi carrying three people collided with a mini-bus carrying 13 passengers at an intersection in Ardmona, in central Victoria, on Tuesday.

Two women, aged 91 and 95, died in hospital last week, days after an 80-year-old woman died at the scene of the crash.

The taxi driver has so far been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death.

Assistant Commissioner Doug Fryer said more charges would be laid over the deadly smash.

"This is a tragic set of circumstances, we had a busload of elderly people involved in a crash, we've now had three people die out of that crash and we cross our fingers that it's not more," he told reporters on Monday.

Twelve people were taken to Shepparton hospital, where two remain in a stable condition.

One patient taken to the Alfred Hospital has since been discharged, while another taken to the Royal Melbourne remains in a stable condition.
