Forget Meghan and Harry - a new royal couple is coming to Melbourne.

Queen Chrissie and King Jimmy are the monarchs who will lead Melbourne’s 64th Moomba Festival parade.

Comedian and radio host for Nova 100 Chrissie Swan was looking very comfortable adorned in her crown, as the announcement was made this morning.

"It's the biggest crown ever made, in the history of crowns", Swan said.

Her counterpart, Jimmy Giggle is also a TV personality, of the Giggle and Hoot fame.

The children's entertainer hopes his presence will appeal to a younger demographic.

"To bring it all to Moomba and to attract those younger kids, we can't wait for that," Giggle said.

The pair had met several years ago, while filming projects in the same studio.

"We did look at each other and think, we'll be king and queen one day," Giggle said.

And as for practising a royal wave?

"I haven't, but I could probably," Swan said.

Both grew up in Melbourne and are familiar with all the fanfare that comes with Moomba.

For Giggle - the highlight will be the birdman challenge.

"I could get a Hoot Birdman thing going ... I could be an epic fail video," he said.

Moomba hits Melbourne on the Labor Day long weekend, running from March 9-12.
