'Missing' father of two had just gone bush for a week

A Victorian man whose disappearance sparked a police search has been found safe and well - and it turns out he'd just gone camping for the week.

Warrnambool man Michael Burn had been missing since leaving his brother's home in Tarrington last Sunday. The last sighting of him was at a Hamilton service station later that night.

Police had carried out extensive air and land searches over the past week.

But Mr Burn, a married father of two, had just decided to go bush.

A police media spokeswoman said Mr Burn had been camping in bushland north of Cavendish and got a lift into the town this morning, where he was seen by police.
