A teenage girl with autism who has been missing for a week from northern Victoria has been found safe and well.

Police say 18-year-old Stephanie Downie left her house in Strathdale, a suburb of Bendigo, a week ago and may have been spotted on CCTV at Southern Cross Station and outside Crown Casino.

Her family were concerned for her welfare and say her autism may make her appear and act younger that her age.

Police say Ms Downie was located in Winchelsea, southwest of Melbourne, by a member of the public who had seen publicity about her disappearance.

It's expected she will be reunited with family on Monday night.
