Melbourne pair remanded over bin murder

Two alleged killers have faced court for the first time over the death of a man whose body was found in a Melbourne wheelie bin.

Jason Considine, 35, and Natasha Hogan, 26, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday charged with murder, and neither applied for bail.

They are accused of killing Ashley Phillips, whose body was found in the bin in Preston on May 27.

A council worker made the grim discovery as he was emptying the bin at the intersection of Young and Butler streets about 8am that morning.

The bin, which does not belong to any residents on the street, was on the nature strip for more than 24 hours before it was collected.

Police are yet to describe the condition of the body or release any details about how he may have died.

Mr Phillips was found wearing a T-shirt featuring Korean pop band Big Bang.

Considine and Hogan, both from Preston, were charged with murder on Thursday.

They were remanded in custody to return to court for a committal mention on September 28.
