Melbourne musician reunited with late husband's guitar after a month of agony

A Melbourne musician has been reunited with her late husband's guitar, a month after it was stolen from her car. 

The instrument was taken while performer Jayde Wong was playing at a church charity event. 

"It felt like another piece of him had been ripped away from me," said Wong.

"It was really traumatic, and I've never felt rage and sorrow like that."

The guitar belonged to Wong's late husband and bandmate, Ed, who died of cancer four years ago. 

"It's just part of his story," Wong said.

"The night I met him was the night I saw this guitar for the first time."

Following the theft, and after weeks of fruitless searching, Wong had begun to lose hope.

"After a few weeks, not hearing anything at all, not hearing any clues, I started to feel like, okay, I'm going to have to learn to accept this might be gone," she said.

That was until an anonymous Instagram message popped up early this week. 

"They said, 'I have come into possession of your guitar, and I think it might be yours'," Wong said.

"When I got out of my car and saw it was just there, I leapt onto it with such joy, I couldn't believe it, we were just in such shock…

"The fact that it's returned to us just feels like a part of (Ed) has come home."
