A man has made a brief court appearance over the rape of a 16-year-old girl in her Melbourne home.

Davut Bulduk, 30, did not apply for bail when he appeared before bail justice Grant Coultman-Smith in an out-of-sessions court appearance on Thursday night.

The Coolaroo resident was remanded in custody to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.

Following the brief hearing, Detective Sergeant Rod Neylan of the Sexual Crimes Squad told reporters police had charged Bulduk with two counts of aggravated burglary and seven counts of rape, over two separate incidents.

He said it will be alleged Bulduk armed himself with a knife and broke into the Coolaroo home of a 38-year-old woman on December 31 and raped her.

Bulduk has been charged with one count of aggravated burglary and three counts of rape over that alleged incident.

Det Sgt Neylan said it would be further alleged Bulduk then broke into a Roxburgh Park home on February 26 and raped a 16-year-old girl.

He has been charged with one count of aggravated burglary and four counts of rape over those allegations.
