Police are investigating after a man aged in his twenties was shot dead at a Melbourne motel last night.

Moey Hassan was found dead in the Kingsbury motel room with a single gunshot wound to his head about 10.45pm.

The Homicide Squad believes four people were inside the room on Plenty Road when a single gun shot rang out.

Two men and a woman fled the room, but one returned to assist detectives, 9NEWS understands.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and police are investigating how any offenders left the scene.

Other guests told 9NEWS they were frightened and concerned for their safety after the shooting.

"It makes me question staying here another night," one man said.

Online tributes have poured in for Mr Hassan, with friends describing him as having a heart of gold and never having any enemies.

His brother appealed for people to "remember him in your prayers".

Mr Hassan is the fourth shooting victim in Victoria this weekend.

Earlier, two men were shot outside a Yarravile bikie clubhouse, and another man was shot in the leg at a Hadfield house yesterday morning.
