Man arrested over Vic police hit-run

A man has been arrested in connection with a police officer run down by car at a roadblock on a Melbourne highway.
The 30-year-old from Wantirna South was arrested in Box Hill on Saturday morning.
The senior constable was hit by the car on Wednesday after officers motioned to the driver to pull over.

Police were taking part in an operation outside the Eastlink tunnel about 1.20pm when they noticed the Ford Falcon with stolen number plates.
The sedan stopped as directed before it drove straight into the officer, who fired at the car in a split-second decision said to have saved his life.
