Melbourne machete, axe gang on the run

A gang of up to six men are on the run after bursting into a Melbourne house armed with a machete and an axe and attacking one of the residents.

The men stormed the house on Coora Road in Oakleigh South in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon, and left a 35-year-old man with slash wounds to his head and hand.

They took wallets and cash before fleeing on foot.

The victim was taken to Dandenong hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the burglary, and have asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
