The Moama Anglican Grammar School student woke up last night after being in a coma since the accident.

Her mother, Barb Cox, said she has no idea how long her daughter's amnesia will last, the Herald Sun reports.

"We can’t be given an indication, especially in children, because the brain has quite a lot of plasticity," Ms Cox said.

The distraught mother said the teenager’s physical injuries are healing however she is still unable to communicate.

"We don’t have any idea what is going to happen next. It’s all just a little bit frightening."

“It was close to three hours they (her friends) had to stand there and wait for paramedics to winch her out," Ms Cox said.

A Go Fund Me page has raised $28472 since her accident – with a target of $50000 – to assist in her recovery.
