Melbourne drug house catches fire

A so called "grow house" has gone up in flames in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

Eight MFB units attended the fire on Sunday night in Mont Albert North after a local resident phoned about smoke apparently coming from a roof cavity, a spokesman said.

While firefighters who had to force their way in didn't find any cannabis plants, police are expected to investigate.

The fire was contained within 40 minutes and caused an estimated $60,000 worth of damage.
