Two teenagers have been hospitalised after a group of up to 20 men armed with crowbars gatecrashed a party on a Victorian beach.

Police say about 200 people had gathered at The Dunes foreshore at Ocean Grove on Saturday night when a group of 15 to 20 older men turned up and began fighting.

A caller to 3AW radio said the men had sticks and crowbars and the beach became a "bit of a war zone".

"They were all set upon by a group of out of town boys - and some of them being men - with sticks and crowbars," Anita told 3AW on Monday.

A spokesman for Ambulance Victoria says two teenagers were taken to Geelong Hospital in stable conditions. One of the teens had upper body injuries.

Police have not made any arrests and are asking for witnesses to come forward.

It follows another incident at a festival in Caroline Springs on Saturday where a large gang of youths assaulted two people and stole mobile phones.
