Melb taxi driver flees after knife attack

A quick-thinking Melbourne taxi driver has grabbed the keys from the ignition as he abandoned his own cab after being attacked by a knife-wielding passenger.

His 22-year-old passenger has been charged following the attack in Chadstone on Sunday afternoon and will face court on Monday.

Victoria Police say the passenger inflicted minor injuries to the 41-year-old driver before he climbed into the vacant front seat and attempted to roll the vehicle towards a freeway on-ramp.
