Melb port sale deal a text for Vic govt

Negotiations over the $6 billion sale of Melbourne's port are continuing sporadically over text message.

Opposition leader Matthew Guy said he is prepared to deal with the government but it needs to get serious about the compensation clauses it wants in the 50-year lease legislation.

"I get an SMS every so often from (Special Minister of State) Gavin Jennings but these are meant to be good faith negotiations and I just don't detect any good faith in it whatsoever," Mr Guy told reporters on Tuesday.
