A man accused of abducting, threatening to kill and bashing another man who was later found in the boot of a car in northeast Melbourne has been remanded in custody.

Philip Satatas, 27, is charged over the attack that ended with the victim found on November 28 tied up and trying to escape the boot of a car parked on a South Morang road.

According to court documents, Satatas allegedly kidnapped the man in Diamond Creek on November 27 with intention of demanding a ransom or to gain advantage.

Satatas appeared in court on Thursday for a brief administrative hearing.
