Driver allegedly ran over Vic cop's foot

A Victorian police officer has been taken to hospital after an erratic driver allegedly ran over his foot and rammed into a police car.

Police say they pulled over a 39-year-old Hoppers Crossing man in Wantirna South after he reversed his car over one of the officer's feet and then crashed into a police car on Sunday night.

Police then arrested the man and charged him with a number of offences including reckless conduct and theft of a motor vehicle.

Paramedics took the police officer to hospital, where he is in a stable condition.

The driver was also taken to hospital with a back injury.

He has been bailed to appear in the Ringwood Magistrates' Court on October 10.
