A thief who clearly loves to risk it for the biscuit has stolen homemade cookies from a Melbourne restaurant for a third time.

The man was caught on video with his hand in the cookie jar in May and October last year, when he also stole some alcohol, police say.

But the thief's addiction has seemingly worsened.

In the latest incident on March 14, he took two whole jars of the same choc-chip cookies from Ascot Vale's Riverside Kitchen & Events, along with the usual container of grog.

CCTV shows the thief walking out with alcohol and a jar of cookies, before he returns to the cafe seconds later to grab another jar.

The biscuit thief is more of a cookie monster for Riverside venue manager Rosetta Sassone.

"The cookies are homemade by my mother," she told AAP on Friday.

"It's frustrating because he's obviously a local. He comes on a bike."

In the first and third burglaries, the thief has had an accomplice.
