Masked bandit assaults elderly Vic woman

An elderly woman has been assaulted in her Victorian home by a masked intruder who left her with face and hand injuries.

The offender entered the Morwell home through an open door about 6.30am on Friday and assaulted the 83-year-old woman inside, police said.

The masked intruder, who wore gloves, demanded cash from the woman.

After telling him where her handbag was, the woman ran to a neighbour and called police.
