Police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted another man at a Melbourne pub, breaking his prosthetic eye in the process.

A 64-year-old man, who is visually impaired and requires a cane, was sitting inside the pub in Armadale in Melbourne’s south-east when he was approached by a man he did not know.

Police have released CCTV footage of a man they believe is responsible for an assault at a Melbourne pub. Victoria Police

The victim asked the man to leave multiple times, but he refused and then allegedly struck him in the face multiple times.

The alleged offender was seen leaving the pub with a woman and walking down Orrong Road.

The 64-year-old was taken to hospital and released the following day, having sustained multiple facial injuries as well as damage to his prosthetic eye.

The eye, worth around $5000, had to be replaced, and his glasses were also broken.

Police are still searching for the offender, and have released a CCTV image of a person of interest.

The man in the image is believed to be in his late 30s with a medium build, bald head and had a short black beard.

He was wearing a navy-blue collared shirt, light blue quarter-zip sweater, dark grey pants, brown loafer shoes, and was carrying a black coat.
