Man suffers burns in Melbourne house fire

A man has suffered minor burns and a woman has been treated for smoke inhalation following a kitchen fire in a Melbourne home.

Emergency services were called to the Balwyn North home at 5am on Sunday, with reports the flames spread to the roof, causing an estimated $250,000 in damage.

The woman and man, both 70, were taken to hospital for treatment.
