Man shot in Melbourne

A man has been shot in the leg on a Melbourne street.
The 40-year-old victim was approached by a gunman in Brunswick West around 5am on Thursday.
He was shot once in the leg and is being treated at the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he is in a stable condition and assisting police.

Police say the offender fled the scene.
