Vic man critical after fireworks accident

A Victorian man is fighting for life after fireworks hit him in the head during Australia Day celebrations.

The 27-year-old Point Cook man lit fireworks on a road near Echuca on Thursday about 11.45pm and was hit in the head, suffering life-threatening injuries, police say.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to The Alfred hospital, where he was in a critical condition on Friday.
