Man remanded over historic Melb assault

A Western Australian man has faced court in Melbourne over sexual assault allegations dating back more than 25 years.
Ernest Dann, 55, was arrested in Meekatharra in central Western Australia last week.
He faced the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday, charged with rape, indecent assault and holding a woman against her will.

The incidents are alleged to have occurred in Greensborough in Melbourne's southeast on September 13 and 14, 1989.
Dann did not apply for bail and spoke only to tell Magistrate Alan Spillane he took daily medication for a heart condition.
His lawyer noted he was an aboriginal man and also suffered asthma.
He was remanded in custody for a filing hearing on July 17.
