Man arrested following Vic woman's death

A man has been arrested following the death of a woman in Victoria's northwest.

Emergency services were called to a Maryborough home about 3.45am on Monday and found a woman, 52, suffering serious injuries.

The woman was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

A 39-year-old Maryborough man, believed to be known to the victim, fled before police arrived.

He was arrested about midday and has been taken to hospital for treatment, police said.
