Man jailed over drugs in golden Buddha

A Melbourne man who tried to get his hands on 10kg of methamphetamine hidden inside imported TVs, DVD players and a golden Buddha statue has been jailed for 13 years.
Udochukwa Nwachukwu, 28, was found guilty in the Victorian County Court of attempting to possess the drugs, which arrived in Australia from China in 2015 but were spotted on arrival.
Australian Federal Police agents removed the drugs and posed as delivery drivers before arresting Nwachukwu, who was sentenced on Thursday to at least nine years and six months in prison before being eligible for parole.
