Man charged over Melbourne stabbing

A man will face a Melbourne court charged over a stabbing that's left another man critically injured.

The 40-year-old man was arrested after a fight at a house in South Yarra shortly before midnight on Tuesday, police said.

The injured man, a 53-year-old from South Yarra, took himself to the nearby Alfred hospital and is in a critical but stable condition.

Police have charged a South Yarra man, 40, with intentionally causing serious injury and recklessly causing serious injury.

He will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
