Man found dead, trio arrested in Vic
A man has been found dead after apparently falling from the balcony of a Melbourne apartment, with three people taken into custody.
Police were called to a CBD apartment building in La Trobe Street about 6.25am on Friday over reports of suspicious behaviour.
When they arrived, they linked the suspect group to two allegedly stolen cars parked outside.
Officers arrested three men and searched the building for another and woman they wanted to speak to about the stolen vehicles.
During the search, a resident told police an unknown man had entered his apartment and had refused to leave.
Police searched the residence but found it empty.
A short time later, a man was found dead outside.
Police believe he may have fallen from the balcony but say their investigation is ongoing.
The man is yet to be formally identified.
Detectives will prepare a report for the coroner with oversight from Professional Standards Command.
The trio arrested include a 25-year-old man from Bulleen, 33-year-old man from Epping and man, 40, from Chadstone.
Police are still searching for a woman believed to be part of the group.
