Man falls from Victorian construction site

A man who fell from the top of a Melbourne construction site is in hospital with possible spinal injuries.

The man in his 20s fell five metres from the second storey of the building and landed on the first floor.

"It was a difficult extrication just to get him from where he was, even though he wasn't trapped as such," paramedic Steve Moody said on Friday.

"Just to get him back to ground level with suspected spinal injuries, we had to use all mechanisms available."

A Metropolitan Fire Brigade hydraulic platform was used to get the man down so he could be put into an ambulance.

The man, who had head and potential spinal injuries, was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.
