Man dies in Victorian ute crash

A man has died after his utility struck a tree in regional Victoria on Saturday.

The crash happened at Yendon near Ballarat about 9pm on Saturday, killing the driver, a man from nearby Mount Egerton, police say.

The death takes Victoria's road toll to 224, six more than at the same time last year.
