Motorcyclist thrown from bike, dies in Vic

A motorbike rider is dead after a highway crash in Victoria's west.

The man was thrown from his bike while riding on the Princes Highway, at Heathmere, about 8pm.

Earlier on Sunday, a man died and a woman was injured after two cars collided in Melbourne.

The driver of one car, a man aged in his 30s, died at the scene and the woman driver of the other car, aged in her 50s, was taken to hospital after the crash in Truganina at 9.30am.

The deaths take Victoria's road toll to 168 compared to 161 at the same time last year.
