Man comes forward over Vic football death

A man has come forward over the death of a supporter at a regional Victorian football club.
A 45-year-old Portland man has contacted police following the death of a 47-year-old man at the Heywood Football Club on Saturday afternoon.
The man died after he was assaulted and knocked unconscious, police say.

Police would not say on Monday if the Portland man had claimed any responsibility, just that he was expected to make a formal statement.
