Man charged with murder after Vic brawl

A man has been charged with murder following a street brawl in regional Victoria that left another man dead.

The fight broke out in Wangaratta early on Saturday May 20 and four of the five men involved required hospitalisation.

One aged 41, who was airlifted to Melbourne with life-threatening injuries, died on Thursday.

A 23-year-old Wangaratta man has now had his charges upgraded from assault to murder, police said on Wednesday.

A 27-year-old Wangaratta man was also charged earlier this month with recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.
