Man charged over Melb woman's killing

A man has been charged with murder over the death of a 48-year-old Melbourne woman who was found with severe upper body injuries in her own home last week.

Police said the 21-year-old man from Lara, near Geelong, had been remanded in custody after an out-of-sessions court hearing on Saturday night, and would appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Sunday.

The woman's body was discovered at her home in Hoppers Crossing on Thursday night.
