Man charged for alleged hit and run that left cyclist fighting for life

A driver has been charged for the alleged hit and run of a cyclist, who was left fighting for life in Victoria.

Police allege a blue Toyota Corolla crashed into a cyclist on Strzelecki Highway in Driffield about 5.10pm yesterday.

When first responders arrived, they found a male cyclist injured.

He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition. No other injuries were taken reported.

A short time later, police arrested a 33-year-old man from Moe who they alleged was the driver of the car.

He was charged with negligently causing serious injury and bailed to face Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court at a later date.
