Man attacks Victorian teenager in park

A teenage girl was pushed to the ground in an attempted sexual assault in a Melbourne park.

The 16-year-old girl was walking along the Main Yarra Trail on Saturday when she noticed a man following her.

When she turned around, the man pushed her to the ground, pulled his pants down and attempted to sexually assault her, police say.

The attacker spoke to the girl but police would not disclose what was said.

The girl screamed, scaring off her attacker, and nearby walkers came to help her.

Police arrived 10 minutes later but couldn't find the man.

They have released a photofit image of the suspect.
