Man charged over violent assaults in Melbourne’s south-east

A 32-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after two alleged assaults in South Yarra. 

John Samuel Thackray, who has no fixed address, was described by police as a "danger to everyone he comes in contact with" at a bail hearing in Melbourne Magistrates Court today. 

He has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, intentionally causing serious injury and intentionally causing injury over two stabbings and an assault. 

Thackray was alleged of stabbing a 38-year-old man in July, leaving him with serious stab wounds. 

Police claimed Thackray was also responsible for an assault of a store owner on Chapel Street in March.
