Man arrested over allegedly trying to bring weapon to Reclaim Australia rally

A man is in custody over an alleged plan to take weapons to an anti-Muslim rally in Melbourne this weekend.

Police arrested a 31-year-old Braybrook man on Tuesday after receiving information that some people were intending to take weapons for "self-defence" to the Reclaim Australia rally in Melton on Sunday.

Assistant Commissioner Stephen Leane did not give reporters any further details of the charges, but said counter-rallies from socialist left groups were also being planned.
